What MY pivot partners have to say

    Kimberly Cunningham

Scott has facilitated several sessions for our staff at Ronald McDonald House, and our staff always feels that the sessions were successful and worth the time spent. Scott has a way of reading the room and the topic being discussed and setting a path that the group is comfortable walking down to share information - he plays the role of the meeting tour guide. He can guide a group with divergent ideas without influencing anyone and encourages engagement. Scott is comfortable in any situation and makes everyone else in the room feel comfortable, even in silence.

Time is one resource that is impossible to replace, and Scott stays within the allotted meeting time and paces activities in such a way that maintains the energy and enthusiasm of the meeting members. The energy he brings to a room is always welcome.

I would recommend Scott to anyone looking for a facilitator who brings all of the skills needed for a successful session. He can help any group deal with any situation with unflappable composure and patience.

Scott is a fantastic public speaker who demonstrates cultural humility, kind wisdom, and sharp wit. He delivers impactful workshops that provide a trusting, inspiring, and deeply meaningful experience for attendees. As a 20-year employee at a healthcare organization, I have had ample opportunity to learn from experienced leaders and observe public speakers. Scott is unequivocally head and shoulders above the rest. He is exceptional for his mastery in engaging the human spirit and moving the hearts and minds of employees. In a word, he is authentic. As an interpreter on a multicultural team who witnesses the joyful highs & devastating lows of illness and life disruption, I have benefited immensely from Scott's consistent involvement in our staff meetings and from his work leading Schwartz Rounds. He effortlessly encourages attendees to be reflective, to feel the power inside each of us to move this world, our world, forward. He is also very organized and professional, making coordinating events with him a breeze. I highly recommend him as a keynote speaker and workshop leader. You will walk away a beautifully changed person.

Scott brings a natural ability to connect compassionately and intentionally.  He tailors creative and strategic approaches that bring teams closer together while you as an individual feel that he was there just for you.  Spending time with Scott will result in your understanding yourself much better than you ever thought you could!

Over the many years that I was privileged to work alongside Scott, I observed a deep confidence given to him across every level of staff - ranging from the hourly wage workers to the C-suite executives.  Scott's natural ability to deeply understand an organization, and the people within it, allows him to connect at a rich personal level.  He commits to each person, and creates a connection that is rarely seen across large organizations - Scott remembers, circles back, checks in, and provides psychological safety to others that is truly reflective of his authenticity as a human.

I had the pleasure of working alongside Scott for many years, while in a high-acuity ICU. During that time, Scott remained strong to myself and my team. Scott can speak to many different people in many different ways, which allows them to open up and fully understand his message. He truly understands the need that many healthcare professionals are facing. He can draw people out of their shells and have them open up to him. At any point Scott is willing to listen and formulate a plan to address issues that come up, even more, he has the understanding that he may not have the answer but simply a shoulder to listen to staff. He can be best described as having a kind demeanor, approachable, and safe! It has been my utmost pleasure to know Scott and work alongside him.

You may have read the quote from Blaine Colliver (high school class of 2025). He talks about how in basketball there is a play called a trap. If you are not familiar with a trap, it is where the defense surrounds the player (dribbler) with the ball in a corner and tries to separate them from the rest of their team. In essence, the player with the ball has nowhere to go; the player is stuck. Colliver shares that this can be the same as how challenges in life can make us feel stuck. He goes on to say a strong coach helps the dribbler understand they have what is called a Pivot foot. This is a foot that stays planted on the floor (still rotatable) while allowing the other foot to be picked up and moved.  Thus the dribbler can see potential passing lanes to get the ball to other teammates and get out of the trap. The Pivot foot, rather than both feet “being stuck,” allows for a position of protection, strength, and new potential while still being planted.

I want to be the type of coach that Colliver speaks.  I believe in people and their potential. I have seen too many people give up.  They either give up on themselves or others give up on them and they never reach who they can fully be. Each person has potential. We may not possess the same abilities in the same areas, but everyone has something to contribute.  Often it takes the right coach to help them see it and believe it. I want to be your coach!  I want to be the one who not only helps you Pivot to something new but also impacts who you are and who you are becoming.  I want to be one of your biggest fans for life!

Pivoting Goal

My goal is simple. I want to help you be your best you!  I want to help you move from a mindset of being stuck to a mindset of thriving toward your goals, dreams, and aspirations. I have found mine and pursuing them! What are yours?

Howard Thurman, a noted American author, and theologian, has a quote I often use when speaking, “Don’t ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive and go do it!  What the world needs is people who are ALIVE!”  Let’s learn to live again by Embracing Your Pivot!

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Life Coaching?

Life coaching is a collaborative process between a coach and a client, aimed at helping the client identify and achieve their personal and professional goals. A life coach acts as a supportive partner, providing guidance, accountability, and motivation to empower the client to make positive changes in their life.

Through a series of structured conversations, a life coach helps the client gain clarity, set meaningful goals, and develop an action plan to achieve those goals. The coach also helps the client overcome any obstacles or limiting beliefs that may be holding them back and provides ongoing support and encouragement throughout the journey.

The Benefits of Life Coaching

Life coaching offers numerous benefits that can positively impact various aspects of your life. Some of the key benefits include:

  • Clarity: Life coaching helps you gain clarity about your values, strengths, and priorities, enabling you to make more informed decisions and choices.
  • Goal Achievement: A life coach helps you set realistic and achievable goals, and provides the support and accountability necessary to stay on track and achieve those goals.
  • Personal Growth: Life coaching facilitates personal growth by challenging you to step outside your comfort zone, overcome obstacles, and develop new skills and perspectives.
  • Improved Relationships: Through coaching, you can gain a deeper understanding of yourself and others, leading to improved communication, empathy, and stronger relationships.
  • Increased Confidence: As you make progress towards your goals and overcome challenges, your confidence and self-belief grow, empowering you to take on new opportunities.
Difference Between Therapy and Coaching

Therapy is designed to help you heal. It’s also designed to help you grow and become more self-aware. Therapy is what you need when you want to “feel better.”

A therapist creates a safe space where you’re free from the pressure to perform that you have to deal with at work or home—pressure that might be making you feel stressed outdepressed, or anxious.

Therapy helps you do a deep dive into your psyche and reconnect the dots of who you are.

Life coaching is designed to help you succeed. It’s also designed to help you grow and become more effective. Life coaching is what you need when you want to “do better.”

A coach creates an encouraging space where they apply gentle pressure and hold you accountable in your efforts to achieve your goals. They can help you make progress on everything from writing a book to losing weight—and identify which goals you want to make progress on in the first place.

Life coaching helps you take on external challenges and become the version of yourself you know you have the potential to be.

Life coaching is a collaborative journey that empowers individuals to unlock their potential, make positive changes, and create a more fulfilling and purposeful life.
